Nation at Brighton Dome
Thu 12 – Sat 14 Nov 2026
A perfect town, a stranger at the door and a community with something to hide. YESYESNONO company return to Brighton Dome with Nation, a dark, unsettling fable about the stories we tell ourselves and the violence they can unleash. This is a tale for our times.
Written and performed by multi-talented oerformer and director Sam Ward, the show follows a butcher, a baker, a farmer and a dog in a seemingly idyllic town where something terrible has happened. When a stranger arrives, the inhabitants are forced to confront their own stories, their sense of belonging and the people they choose to exclude.
Performed in the round, with the audience cast as residents of the town at Brighton Dome, Nation explores how national identity is constructed through storytelling, and how the same stories can fuel division, hatred and extremism. Ward’s intimate, compelling performance invites audiences to consider their own place within the communities they inhabit. Very much looking forward to this.
Following the success of We Were Promised Honey!, YESYESNONO bring their latest work to the Studio Theatre in Brighton, having first presented it at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024. The production received five stars from The Skinny, alongside four-star reviews from The Times, The Scotsman, The Stage and WhatsOnStage.
