A Brighton nursery has been temporarily closed by Ofsted after a complaint about safeguarding.
Happy Valley Pre School in Heath Hill Avenue was visited by the regulator on Monday following a complaint made last week.
Parents were contacted that evening to say it was temporarily closing – and could not say when it was reopening.
A report has now been published on Ofsted’s website, which says the nursery’s registration has been suspended.
It also said the complaint related to safeguarding, suitable people and supporting and managing children’s behaviour.
It said the visit found the nursery wasn’t meeting some requirements, and Ofsted served a welfare requirements notice.
The notice requires all staff to be given “robust” safeguarding training.
It says all children must be effectively supervised at all times, and the nursery should take action to manage behaviour appropriately.
Finally, it says the nursery should implement effective sleeping arrangements to keep babies and children safe, undertake risk assessments and demonstrate how hazards are managed.
The report says: We suspended the provider’s registration on 2 November 2026 because we believe children may be at risk of harm.
“Suspension allows time for the provider to take steps to reduce or eliminate the risk of harm to children.
“The provider has a right to appeal against a suspension.
“The provider may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place and may commit an offence if they do so.
“We will monitor the provider’s response to ensure the actions are successfully completed.
“The provider is still registered with Ofsted.”

Do we have anyone in charge of education in the council? Not heard who this is for absolutely ages. Was this post deleted or are they just mega busy with other things that are not to do with keeping children safe- which would explain this huge concern.
