There’s a night of punk, blues, surf and rock’n’roll going down this Wednesday (18th August) at The Prince Albert at 48 Trafalgar Street, Brighton, BN1 4ED.

There’s a trio of local talent on the bill – Let’s meet the bands…..

Idle Bones

From a very dark place beyond the grave, Idle Bones formed in Brighton in 2017. Since then the band have fine-tuned their sound to the rockabilly punk that is missing in today’s modern music scene, teeming with prog rock and indie acts.

Idle Bones are inspired by the likes of AFI, The Creepshow, The Cure and Suede Idle Bones bring a playful darkness to their writing which combined with fast chuggy riffs and catchy modern hooks truly sets them apart in the UK music scene.

The Idle Bones personnel consists of Brett Zero (guitar/lead vocals), Steve Johnson (bass/vocals) and Ashley Tugwell (drums/vocals). Listen to Idle Bones tracks on their Bandcamp page HERE.

The band will also be playing two more local live gigs. The first will be at The Pipeline in Brighton on 15th October and the second will be at The Brunswick in Hove on 13th November as part of ‘Off The Record Independent Music Festival’.

Joanna And The Dropouts

By day, Joanna And The Dropouts hang out in Brighton and by night, they play Rock’n’Roll with a splash of horror tinged surf punk; think, pretty much what Dracula would listen to whilst putting on his favourite Hawaiian shirt. The band formed in early 2019 with Joanna Jacobs on guitar and lead vocals, Natasha Lewington on keyboard and vocals, Ross Trevena on Bass guitar and Antony Overman on drums.

Watch their recent video for ‘Bad News’ HERE and check out their Bandcamp page HERE.

The Mandelbrot Shakes

Lewes based The Mandelbrot Shakes consist of Jules (guitar/vocals) and Letty (drums/vocals) and they play trash punk blues two minute bangers about love, betrayal and what to do if your dog is nicked. Watch their recent live show video HERE.

The Mandelbrot Shakes will also be sharing a night of vampire surf rock ‘n’ roll with X-Ray Cat Trio and The Defiant Ones at The Con Club in Lewes on Friday 20th August. Ticket details HERE.
