Burger King is to leave the Aquarium Terraces development and may be replaced with a motoring museum, it has emerged.
Speaking at a meeting of the Kingscliffe Society’s committee, Matthew Kahil and Robert Nemeth, of Brighton Seafront Regeneration Ltd, said that the fast food chain was due to leave the development in September this year.
But they said there was strong interest from the RAC to lease its unit, and possibly another empty one too.
The pair also revealed that The Harvester and the Terraces Bar and Grill will be staying on and confirmed that a gym will shortly be opening in the unit originally earmarked by superclub Cream.
As for the remaining empty units, there is also interest from a dance and fitness school, Bistrotech has just obtained permission to open a restaurant and there is also a proposal for a six-bedroom hotel.
These latest details follow the news last month that a gym is to open there, and a glass pavilion on top of the 50,000 sq ft complex will be demolished.
The council-owned Aquarium Terraces was developed by Compco more than a decade ago and has remained largely empty ever since.
