Brighton & Hove Albion: Little Tyke – Albion beaten by Barnsley

Barnsley 2 Brighton & Hove Albion 1

The Albion lost their second game in succession and now sit firmly outside the play-off places in the Championship.

Former Albion target Jason Scotland put Barnsley in front after just 15 minutes and that’s the way it stayed until half time.

Albion equalised just before the hour with a point-blank header from Leo Ulloa.

The game then turned on two penalty decisions. First referee Mark Haywood penalised Adam El-Abd for a foul on Chris O’Grady when it appeared to be O’Grady who did the pushing.

Chris Dagnall dispatched the penalty just out of the reach of Tomasz Kuszczak to put the Tykes back in front.

Fifteen minutes later the referee gave Albion a lifeline in the form of a spot kick. But Ulloa fired his shot too near Luke Steele in the Barnsley goal and the keeper made a good stop.

The referee appeared to give the Albion a rough time apart from the penalty and should have sent off Rory Delap for a clinical foul on Kazenga LuaLua.

One bright spark for Albion was the introduction of development squad player George Barker, who impressed when coming on as a substitute. The Portsmouth-born youngster must have earned a chance of being involved on Sunday against Crystal Palace at the Amex.

This is the most biased report I have ever read !! You may have a point about Delap but your penalty was a blatant dive and what about the penalty we should have had in the first half ??
