A woman has been remanded in custody on charges of assaulting a man and robbing him by a cash machine in Kemp Town.

Sussex Police said this morning (Friday 7 November): “A woman has been remanded following a robbery in St James’s Street, Brighton.

“On the evening of Monday 27 October, a man in his thirties was using a cashpoint in St James’s Street, Brighton, when he was reportedly approached and assaulted by a woman.

“She is then reported to have knocked him to the ground and stolen his bank card before fleeing the area.

“The card was subsequently used fraudulently on three occasions following the incident.

“On Thursday 30 October, 30-year-old Aji Sinera, of no fixed address, was arrested in connection with inquiries around the robbery.

“Later that same evening she was charged with three counts of fraud by false representation, and with robbery.

“She appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 31 October to answer charges and was remanded into custody.

“On Friday 28 November, she is due to reappear for her next hearing at Lewes Crown Court.”
