A city centre street was cordoned off yesterday after a suspected bomb was found in a flat.
Sussex Police was asked on Thursday lunchtime why several police cars were parked at the junction of Robert Street and North Road in the North Laine.
A police cordon was also put across Robert Street.
This afternoon, it said: “Officers attended an address in Robert Street, Brighton on Thursday (22 January), following reports of a disturbance nearby.
“A 51-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion on suspicion of assault, possession of a class A drug, and possessing a class A drug with intent to supply.
“A 27-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug, and being concerned in the supply of a class B drug.
“A suspicious item was located at the property which resulted in the road being temporarily closed. Following a full assessment the item was confirmed to be a battery pack, and the road was re-opened.
