A man has died after a crash on the A27 which has led to the road being closed westbound since the early hours of this morning.
The single-car crash happened at 2am near the Amex Stadium at Falmer. The carriageway has been closed and was extended later this morning to reach from Kingston roundabout and the Carden Avenue junction.
A police statement said: “Emergency services were called to a report of a serious collision involving a single vehicle on the A27 westbound near the Amex stadium at Falmer at 2am on Wednesday (28 January).
“One man was sadly declared deceased at the scene, his next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family during this time.
“A 16-year-old boy has been taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.
“No arrests have been made.
“The road closure on the A27 has been extended and is now in place on the westbound carriageway of the A27 between the Kingston roundabout and the Carden Avenue, Brighton junction.
“We advise motorists to plan alternative routes to avoid the area.”
