A teenage boy was stabbed in the neck by a masked man dressed in black on Monday evening.

Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses and information after the assault in Saunders Park View off Lewes Road at around 7.30pm.

It was reported that a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old man were approached by a man who entered the road from the direction of Saunders Park.

The man reportedly attempted to injure the boy with a bladed article, causing a neck injury, before leaving toward the park.

The boy was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The man was described as being 6ft tall and wearing a black puffa jacket with the hood up, black tracksuit bottoms, a black face covering, and carrying a black rucksack.

Officers are pursuing multiple lines of enquiry in an ongoing investigation.

We encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any relevant information such as CCTV, mobile or doorbell footage to report it to us online or by calling 101 quoting serial 1248 of 02/02.
