Truly delicious Horrible Histories!

On arrival at the Dome Concert Hall we were surrounded by a very excited audience of lots of kids and their adults. We were treated to a visit from a very friendly and chatty executioner in the stalls welcoming us. The hilarity had begun!

The show opens with being introduced to Richie Ware who incidentally not only composed the music and songs for this show but for all of the TV series of Horrible Histories. He is also a stalwart throughout the production with his cast interactions.

William Shakespeare is supposed to be our guide for the show, but he was late to the stage, as we could see on the back stage footage on screen, as being berated by Elizabeth I. King Charles II is partying, and Henry VIII is looking for food.

Suddenly we meet William “your answer to Taylor Swift” or “Chaka Khanspeare” on stage and he is not only our guide through the show but an integral part of the production on all levels. He’s great with audience interaction and engagement with witty repartee, songs and silly dance moves.

For the very first time, your favourite songs and characters from the BAFTA Award-winning CBBC TV series appear live (and dead!) on stage.

When William Shakespeare is asked to create the greatest show on earth, he’s no idea how much trouble he’ll get from monstrous monarchs like King Henry VIII, Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria. Things hot up when Death appears – and now Boudica and Cleopatra want to take over! Can things get any worse? Of course they can!

Don’t miss this unique chance to see the amazing TV actors singing the sensational TV songs, including Charles II, Dick Turpin, the Monarchs Song and many more.

It is non-stop hilarity including Queen Elizabeth I informing us of Tudor cleanliness “I have a bath once a month whether I need it or not” and encouraging us to throw our pooh out of the window.

This is a gold standard production and both my little person and I had the best of times. The comedy is side splitting, the music top level and all of the CBBC series content is there also. If you want to sing along the words are on the screen at the back of the stage.

There is one more day of this run here in Brighton so get along to the Dome to shout, sing and generally carouse with your kids. I’ve not enjoyed a show as much for a considerable time.
