The winner of Brighton and Hove’s first Michelin star in more than five decades is one of the star turns at this weekend’s Foodies Festival.
The annual festival returns to Preston Park from Saturday to Monday. Leading the line-up is Ewan Waller, head chef at Maré, whose restaurant recently secured that long-awaited star.
Festivalgoers will have the rare chance to see Michelin-level cooking up close, with live demonstrations designed to make restaurant-quality dishes accessible for home cooks.
A host of familiar TV faces will also take to the stage, including current MasterChef champion Harry Maguire, finalist Sophie Sugrue, and fellow champions Dhruv Baker and Tom Rhodes, alongside MasterChef: The Professionals winner Alex Webb.
The festival will officially get underway on Saturday morning with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11am, led by Harry Maguire and TV chef and MasterChef champion Dhruv Baker.
Across the weekend, the Chefs Theatre and Cake & Bake Theatre will showcase both national names and local talent, including Brighton favourites such as Pete Danatus, Duncan Ray and Steven Edwards, alongside bakers and pastry specialists from across the region.
There will also be street food stalls, artisan producers and hands-on masterclasses. The live music line-up will see Scouting For Girls take to the stage on Saturday, B*Witched perform on Sunday and Boyzlife close the festival on Monday, alongside local bands performing throughout each day.
