Another Brighton and Hove Albion winger has joined Leicester City on loan as 18-year-old Harry Howell links up at the League One club with Tommy Watson.
Albion said this afternoon (Thursday 13 August): “Harry Howell has signed a new contract and joined League One Leicester City on a season-long loan.
“The 18-year-old’s new deal runs until June 2029 and he links up with the Foxes who have also taken Tommy Watson on loan for the campaign.”
Brighton’s sporting director Mike Cave said: “Harry has had good exposure to the first team environment over the last 12-months and this loan gives him the opportunity to now build on that further with regular senior football.
“We are very excited by Harry’s potential and look forward to seeing him continue to progress over the coming year.”
The Worthing-born winger joined Albion’s academy at seven years old, progressing through the ranks before making his Premier League debut for the Seagulls in a 2-1 win over Liverpool in May last year.
He has since gone on to make seven first-team appearances, scoring his first goal for the club in an EFL Cup win against Barnsley last season.
Howell, a cousin of Jack Hinshelwood, another Albion youngster, has also represented England at youth level, most recently making his debut for the Under-19s in March.
He will be coached by Brighton-born Russell Martin who took charge of the Foxes after a six-point deduction sent them down from the Championship just a year after they lost their top-flight status.
