“While the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed.
“Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
“All lines are currently closed between Brighton and Lewes. If you’re travelling now, you will need to use an alternative route.
“You should leave at least 60 minutes extra to complete your journey this evening. You should listen to announcements, check station screens and consult journey planners for the latest information.
“For journeys between Brighton and Lewes, you will need to travel on Brighton and Hove Buses between Lewes and Brighton.
“Your ticket will be accepted on Brighton and Hove routes 28 and 29 which call at Moulsecoomb and Falmer en route.

“If your train is delayed between stations, please remain where you are and listen to announcements or speak to staff for further information.
“Please don’t leave the train unless you are asked to do so. Other trains may still be moving in the area and the track is also a very hazardous environment.
“In areas where the trains are powered by an electric third rail, this usually stays live and dangerous during incidents and looks the same as other rails.”
