A production company from Hove is filming all 154 sonnets by William Shakespeare.
Dogtooth is starting the project in Brighton and wants people to come along and read a 14-line sonnet to camera.
The company, which is based close to the Seven Dials, said: “This is not a job for actors although we won’t turn you away if you have performed before.
“We particularly want to hear from people with no acting experience and from people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
“There are no lines to learn – autocue will be provided – all you have to do is come as you are.”
The project director is James Newton and the producer is Dee Rudebeck.
The company described its plans as “one of the most expansive British art projects ever undertaken” and said: “Dogtooth will film all of William Shakespeare’s 154 sonnets recited by ordinary, everyday Britons in every corner of the UK using some of the nation’s most iconic landmarks and scenery as backdrops – as well as some not-so-pretty locations too.
“Not only will the project bring to life some of the most powerful love poems ever written, it will be an historic snapshot of Britain today.”
The first day of filming will take place on Saturday (26 October) from 10.30am to 2.30pm at the
Friends’ Meeting House in Ship Street, Brighton.
Dogtooth said that the only time commitment was 15 minutes.
