A support worker who helps disabled teenagers and young adults has praised the generosity of people on Brighton seafront who gave donations to Help for Heroes.
Alan Elliot was part of a group who spent two days walking from Southampton, where he lives, to Brighton.
Mr Elliot, 58, held a collection for Help for Heroes on the seafront near the Palace Pier in Brighton and raised £845.
He said: “Some good friends of mine lost limbs while on deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“We had the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment collecting for us, with the three Help for Heroes bears. It was a great success.
“We had a lot of support from the Chichester Sea Cadets, putting us up overnight.
“With the Chichester tri-service band, they met us in Brighton to play for us while we collected near the pier.”
As well as the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, Mr Elliot was joined by members of the Royal Artillery, ex-servicemen and members of the public.
They set off on Saturday 21 June and reached Brighton on Sunday 22 June where they held the licensed collection.
