Dozens of volunteers took part in a 10-kilometre Legal Walk to raise funds for advice charities in Brighton and Hove yesterday evening (Monday 15 June).
About 80 people took part in the eighth annual Brighton and Hove Legal Walk on the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta being sealed by King John.
Those setting off from the steps outside Brighton Magistrates’ Court included judges, lawyers and law students.
They were sent on their way by the deputy mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Pete West.
The event raises funds for local charities providing independent advice to residents facing difficulties with housing, benefits, debt and other issues.
The charities to benefit from the event are Brighton and Hove Citizens Advice Bureau, Brighton Housing Trust (BHT), The Fed and Money Advice Plus.

The event ended with a reception at BHT’s First Base Day Centre, in Montpelier Place, Brighton.
Advice Partnership co-ordinator Paul Sweeting said: “Brighton and Hove is a great place to live but it’s also an expensive place to live and that’s really challenging if you are on a low income.
“Our advice charities help thousands of residents with issues related to the non-return of rent deposits, non-payment of wages and non-payment of benefits.
“When a family’s finances are on a knife edge, solving these problems early can be crucial to avoiding problems with spiralling debt and eviction.
“We are hugely grateful to the local legal sector for coming out this evening to support this essential work.”
