Neighbours have been invited to meet the team that is building a permanent travellers site in Brighton.
The meeting is due to take place at the Old Boat Corner Community Centre, in Hollingbury, at 4pm next Monday (28 September).
Officials from Brighton and Hove City Council, Patcham ward councillors, the Environment Agency and staff from the contractor, Westridge Construction, are expected to attend.
The council said: “Residents affected by work to construct the new permanent traveller site at Horsdean have the chance to meet the development team and ask questions at a meeting next week.
“Work started earlier this month on the new government-funded 12-pitch permanent traveller site at Horsdean.
“This new site will provide residential accommodation for Gypsy and traveller communities and help the council to manage unauthorised encampments. Travellers living on the site will pay rent and council tax.
“Work includes drainage installation under the A27 to connect the new permanent and existing transit traveller sites to the wider sewerage network.
“The work has received consent from Highways England and will not impact traffic on the A27 or result in any lane closures to the road.
“The drainage installation will include some works in Vale Avenue and Horsdean Recreation Ground. “This new drainage section will be completed by Christmas 2015, weather permitting.
“The site is due to open in June next year.”
