Ofsted is inspecting the biggest school in Brighton and Hove – Cardinal Newman Catholic School which has 2,235 pupils.
The school contacted pupils’ parents and carers yesterday and said: “This morning we were informed of an Ofsted Inspection today.”
Head teacher James Kilmartin said: “One of the key pieces of evidence that the inspectors will look at will be the views of parents as expressed on Parent View.”
Dr Kilmartin added: “I would like to thank all parents and carers for the many good wishes we have received and the positive feedback you have provided today.”

More than 90 per cent of parents would recommend the school – in The Upper Drive in Hove – to another parent. And more than 90 per cent said that their child was happy and safe at the school.
At its previous inspection in 2007 – when Peter Evans was head – Ofsted said that the school was outstanding.
The official watchdog sent more than 20 inspectors for its previous inspection – in 2004 – when the verdict was that Newman was a very good school.
The inspectors return for the second day of their inspection today (Thursday 10 December).
