A woman was sentenced to 28 days in prison for trying to steal a Vauxhall in Brighton.
Deborah Shaw, 24, admitted trying to take the vehicle which belonged to Christine Standen.
At Hastings Magistrates’ Court, Shaw also pleaded guilty to interfering with a Ford which police believe she was intending to take.
A charge of assaulting a police officer on the same day – in March – was withdrawn when Shaw was dealt with on Wednesday (20 July).
Shaw, who is currently in Downview Prison, in Sutton, was sentenced to 28 days because the offences were so serious because of her previous convictions. They include theft, aggravated burglary and assault.
She was ordered to be detained in the courthouse until the end of the day’s proceedings with the bench deeming that her sentence would then be served “by reason of time already spent in custody”. She was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.
