Three held after bottles hurled in fight in Brighton street

Thieves have stolen cash, a wallet and a phone from three delivery drivers in Brighton in separate incidents just a few days apart.

Sussex Police warned delivery drivers to lock their vehicles to make it harder for thieves to strike.

The force said: “On (Tuesday) 26 July more than £500 cash was stolen from the glovebox of a vehicle parked in Terminus Road, a rucksack was taken from a delivery vehicle in Jubilee Street on Saturday (30 July) and a wallet, cash and mobile phone was stolen from a vehicle parked in Duke Street on Sunday (31 July).

“Drivers who leave their vehicles unattended while they are making deliveries are being advised to secure them.”

Sergeant Chris Durrant said: “Delivery drivers in Brighton and Hove are being ask to ensure they properly lock and secure vehicles if they are leaving them unattended while delivering to businesses and residents in the city.

“Over the last week we have received three separate reports after delivery drivers became victims of theft.

“Similarities in each case included each vehicle being left insecure and unattended while the driver was off making a delivery.

“We are asking for delivery drivers and the public to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to the police.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk. If a crime is taking place, dial 999.
