A health trust based in Brighton has appointed a new director of performance and improvement.

Anuschka Muller is due to join the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust in October from West Sussex County Council where she is head of performance and intelligence.

The health trust, which is based at Brighton General Hospital, in Elm Grove, Brighton, said that she previously redesigned the county council’s Insight Team into an analytical powerhouse to support its senior leadership team in its strategic decision-making.

Dr Muller grew up in the German capital, Berlin, and has a masters degree and doctorate in biology and a masters in forestry.

Sussex Community Trust said: “The appointment was made following a rigorous process involving a high-quality field of external candidates.”

The trust’s chief executive Siobhan Melia said: “Anuschka is passionate about turning data into actionable intelligence and insight and realising its value for public services.

“She has a proven track record of identifying opportunities for more effective and efficient service design and delivery to improve health outcomes and experience of care.

“She brings extensive experience in storytelling with data which is effective and engaging.”

Dr Muller said: “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join such a fantastic organisation and to lead its performance and improvement agenda.

“The role of data, performance, insight and intelligence is going to become more and more important.

“The need for clear messages is crucial to help managers make decisions based on evidence rather than gut feeling.

“I will introduce a new approach, storytelling with data, which is a great way of bringing data to life.”

I hope she can sort out the royal susseex country hospital, because it is in a shambles big time. They have mixed up my medical notes with somebody else’s and now it is nearly 5 month’s for waiting for a MRI and ct scan
