A group of Brighton and Hove’s very own young masterchefs cooked up a treat to mark the end of their two-year catering course.
Pupils from Patcham High School and Dorothy Stringer planned and cooked a three-course meal for parents and staff to mark the completion of the NVQ Level 1 course.
They were overseen by their tutors Dave Stephenson and Allan Paul at The Gallery training restaurant at City College Brighton and Hove.
The course is aimed at those who hope to become professional chefs or work in the hospitality industry.
It provides cooking skills and teaches methods of working in professional kitchens.
The pupils have been attending the course one day a week over two years at City College.
Lisa Stern, City College’s 14-16 inclusion co-ordinator, said: “This event really encapsulated everything that we’re trying to achieve with the college’s 14-16 programmes.
“The students clearly enjoyed being on the course and also loved taking on the challenge of making this event a success.
“Their professional manner said a lot about the progress they’ve made over the last two years.
“Their achievement is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved.”
City College teaches 2,000 adults on full-time course and 7,000 others on part-time further education courses.
It also has 400 undergraduates studying for degrees or other high education qualifications and 400 youngsters aged 14 to 16 on vocational courses.
