The Greens have ousted the Tories’ finance chief in Hove.

Chris Hawtree topped the poll for the Greens, while newcomer Andrew Wealls took the other seat for the Conservatives.

Councillor Hawtree’s election was greeted with loud cheers and applause from the party’s supporters inside the count.

The party has made three gains, while three sitting Conservatives have lost their seats.
