The Green Party has announced the make-up of its cabinet to run Brighton and Hove City Council.

Bill Randall becomes leader of the council with Amy Kennedy and Ian Davey as his deputies.

Councillor Kennedy becomes the cabinet member for planning, economic development and regeneration.

Her Preston Park ward includes one of the biggest eyesores in Brighton – Anston House – opposite Preston Park.

Councillor Davey becomes the cabinet member for transport and the public realm.

The rest of the cabinet is

  • Jason Kitcat – cabinet member for financial and central services
  • Liz Wakefield – cabinet member for housing
  • Pete West – cabinet member for environment and sustainability
  • Rob Jarrett – cabinet member for adult social care and health
  • Sue Shanks – cabinet member for children and young people
  • Geoffrey Bowden – cabinet member for culture, recreation and tourism
  • Ben Duncan – cabinet member for communities and community safety

Councillor Randall said: “Last week’s election results were a huge vote of confidence in the Greens.

“As a result we have assembled a team of many talents to take the city forward at a challenging time.”

The Greens won 23 seats to become the biggest political group on the council but five seats short of a majority.
