A series of stunning wildlife photographs are coming to Brighton Museum next month.

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, on loan from the Natural History Museum in London, will open on 18 May 2019 featuring images which capture the breathtaking diversity of the natural world.

When it launched in 1965, Wildlife Photographer of the Year attracted 361 entries. This year, it received almost 50,000 entries from over 90 countries

This year’s 100 award-winning images will embark on an international tour that will allow them to be seen by over a million people.

Head of Royal Pavilion and Museums Janita Bagshawe said: “We are thrilled to be welcoming the Wildlife Photographer of the Year show to Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.

“This is an extremely popular show which appeals to people of all ages. The images show nature at its most fascinating, exciting and thought-provoking. We hope it is going to be a huge attraction to visitors and residents this summer.”

Jan English, head of touring exhibitions at the Natural History Museum, said: “Wildlife Photographer of the Year celebrates the very best nature photography, and it is consistently one of our most successful touring exhibitions, enjoyed by millions every year.

“These images tell thought-provoking stories about our planet that prompts us all to think differently about the natural world and the future we want to create.”
