A man and a woman have pleaded not guilty to murdering a popular Brighton man in his town centre home.
Denise Antonia, 33, of Appledore Road, Moulsecoomb, and David Sole, 32, of no fixed address, appeared at Lewes Crown Court accused of killing Jonathan Ellison, known as Jon to his friends.
Mr Ellison, 48, of Gloucester Street, Brighton, died from head injuries and had been so badly beaten that he had to be identified by his fingerprints.
His body was found by friends in his ground floor North Laine flat at about 2.10am on Friday (15 April).
Antonia and Sole were remanded in custody until Tuesday 3 January when a four-week trial is due to start.
