Two Brighton bookmakers were robbed by a man armed with a knife within minutes of each other this morning.
A BetFred shop in Hollingbury Place was raided just before 10am, and then another branch of the same bookies was robbed just after 10am.
A police spokesman said: “On each occasion a man entered, threatened staff and took a quantity of cash, totalling just under £1000.
“There was no violence and no injury. In the first robbery he produced a long-bladed knife and in the second incident he referred to one though it was not actually produced.”
Police are linking the incidents, and are searching the city for the suspect. He’s described as aged 50 to 55, white, 5ft 11in, of medium build, wearing jeans, a blue zip-up top, and work boots. He had no head covering.
