Signs informing people of the ban on barbecues on Hove Lawns have been put up after requests from residents.
The East Brunswick Residents’ Association (EBRA) has been asking for weeks for signs to stop the lawns being scorched by disposable barbecues.
Posting on the EBRA website, Paul says: “We have been asking for these since May. So I guess the burns in the grass have been noticed!”
The EBRA has also started a petition urging Brighton and Hove City Council and the police to take action. You can sign it here.
Earlier this week, the council’s cabinet member for the environment Geoffrey Theobald urged people to report anyone leaving litter on the lawns or the beach to the council or police.
Barbecues are allowed on the beach after 6pm.
