A Brighton man today admitted stabbing his former housemate Gordon Stalker to death.

Stephen Dunne, 41, of Chates Farm Road, in the Hanover area of Brighton, pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

At Lewes Crown Court, Dunne was described as a paranoid schizophrenic.

He stabbed Mr Stalker, 51, in the chest and side of his body at his Elm Grove home in February.

Dunne had moved into the same house as Mr Stalker but after his mental health worsened he moved out.

He went back to the property on Monday 15 February and killed Mr Stalker.

The court is due to sentence Dunne tomorrow when he is likely to be detained indefinitely under the Mental Health Act.
