A partially blind woman has been attacked and robbed in Preston Park.
The 40-year-old woman, who lives in Brighton, was left bruised and shaken after the robbery which happened at about 5.30pm on Sunday.
Sussex Police said that a man approached the victim, grabbed her on both arms and struck her across both sides of her face, causing bruising.
He ran off after taking her purse.
Detective Sergeant Mark Cullimore said: “To take advantage of a clearly vulnerable woman is intolerable and we are doing everything we can to find this man.
“This has been very traumatic for the victim and we continue to offer our support.
“The victim entered the park at the Stanford Avenue entrance, walked past the southern end of the rose garden, then along a path going through some trees.
“If anyone was in this area of the park at this time and saw anything suspicious they should contact us immediately.”
The suspect is described as smelling of alcohol.
The purse is described as mustard coloured, small, with red, blue and gold flowers and a brass clasp.
