Hove man dies after being knocked down by car in Patcham
A 44-year-old man from Hove died after being struck by a car in Patcham late yesterday afternoon.
He was walking near the Esso garage in London Road when the accident happened at about 5.10pm.
The driver involved in the accident, a 42-year-old woman from Norfolk, was treated at the scene for shock but did not need to be taken to hospital.
The passengers in her Ford Focus, two children aged 12 and 9, suffered slight injuries but did not need to go to hospital either.
Sergeant Melanie Doyle, of Sussex Police, said that no other person or vehicle was involved.
She urged witnesses to contact the force’s Road Policing Unit on 0845 6070999.
Traffic along the A23 was diverted in the aftermath of the accident.
