A suspected burglar suffered a broken leg and chest and back injuries after falling from a window in Kemp Town.
The 35-year-old man from Brighton is believed to have been fleeing from police officers who were investigating a break-in in Grafton Street.
Three other suspects were arrested after the burglary at about 12.40am on Saturday 2 April – another 35-year-old man, a 21-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, all from Brighton.
They have each been released on bail until Friday 27 May while officers make further inquiries.
The fourth suspect was found by police on the first floor needing medical attention.
He was treated by paramedics and taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, with serious injuries.
An investigation is under way into how he sustained his injuries after Sussex Police referred the matter to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
