Hove drug dealer jailed for ten years

A drug dealer from Hove has been jailed for ten years after being caught with a £640,000 haul of cocaine.

Lloyd Power, 29, of Queen Victoria Avenue, Hove, was also jailed for a year – to be served concurrently or at the same time – for money laundering.

Power and another man – Gary Knock, 35, of Pevensey Road, Eastbourne – admitted conspiring to supply cocaine at Lewes Crown Court.

They were jailed yesterday having been arrested last September when Sussex Police officers from the mobile automated number plate recognition (ANPR) operations team caught them with 4kg of cocaine.

The pair were arrested after being seen behaving suspiciously in the Regency Square area of Brighton.

Power was arrested near his van in Molesworth Street, Hove, and Knock was held in his van in Grand Parade, Brighton.

Sussex Police said at the time that the swoop would have “a significant impact on drug-related crime in Sussex”.

A 47-year-old woman from Eastbourne was also arrested on suspicion of having Class A drugs with intent to supply.

She was bailed by police but subsequently did not face prosecution.

The investigation was taken on by the Sussex Police Serious Organised Crime Unit.

Detective Inspector Till Sanderson said: “This is another blow to would-be organised drug dealing in Sussex and shows how we can use different types of police expertise to help bring criminals to justice.

“We now plan to bring both men back to court to face proceedings aimed at confiscating the financial assets gained from their illegal activities.”
