A woman in a wheelchair suffered a broken arm and facial injuries after a brutal attack in Brighton in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 24 May).

The attack happened just before 3am in Albion Street.

A man who was with her was also hit with what may have been a cricket bat or similar wooden implement.

The woman, 55, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton and was expected to be released today.

Her assailant is described as white, aged 30 to 35 years old, shaven-headed, 5ft 8in tall, of stocky build, possibly with a silver stud through his bottom lip and wearing a red jacket.

He had three dogs with him and after the incident walked off north along Albion Street.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
