Mothers and their babies are being invited to a breastfeeding picnic in the centre of Brighton next month.
Bosom Buddies – a group set up by NHS breastfeeding supporters – is holding the picnic in the Pavilion Gardens in New Road, Brighton.
They promise to make support and advice available for breastfeeding mothers as well as hosting discussions.
Bosom Buddies said that the group was set up “to encourage mothers to feel comfortable breastfeeding in a public place rather than behind clinic doors or rushing home”.
The picnic is due to run from 1pm to 3pm on Saturday 18 June on the lawn in front of the café.
The National Breastfeeding Picnic began as a way of campaigning to ask Parliament to “bring in fairness, freedom and equality for hungry babies”.
The law has changed although there are still reports of breastfeeding mothers being treated unfairly.
The picnic is intended to celebrate the start of National Breastfeeding Week which runs from Sunday 19 June to Saturday 25 June.
