Plans for the new look Royal Sussex County Hospital are to go on show at exhibitions in Brighton and Hove over three weeks in October.

Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Royal Sussex, has submitted plans to demolish buildings fronting Eastern Road in Kemp Town.

They will be replaced by taller buildings, better suited to a modern hospital.

The plans also include adding a helipad to the top of the Thomas Kemp Tower – which will have to be taller than previously indicated, architect Neil Cadenhead said last night.

The exhibitions is intended to show how the designs have changed over time, through consultation with the public, the council, staff and patients.

Staff will be on hand at all three exhibition venues to answer questions and Richard Beard, from the trust’s project team, said that everyone was welcome to attend.

The venues are outside the Jubilee Library in Brighton, the Audrey Emerton Building, opposite the Royal Sussex, in Eastern Road, and Hove Library in Church Road, Hove.
