Speculation is rife that Manchester United’s ex-England, Liverpool and Real Madrid striker, Michael Owen is about to join the Seagulls.
At least one tabloid newspaper has led with the story on its back page and the story was reported on local television news last night.
This all seems to emanate from the fact that a certain online bookmaker has Owen to join the Albion priced as odds-on in their transfer business book.
Owen appears to have no connection with the Albion other than the fact that he and club chairman Tony Bloom both have racehorses in training with Tom Dascombe.
If Owen does end up at the Amex it will surely be one of Albion’s most audacious transfer coups ever.
The prospect of Owen and Spanish midfielder Vicente in the starting line up would have many Albion fans rubbing their eyes in disbelief.
