The Albion have been drawn away to Liverpool in the 5th round of the FA Cup.

In another incredible similarity with that famous 1983 cup run the Seagulls could face Liverpool exactly 29 years to the day of that epic 2-1 win.

The Seagull’s narrowly lost to Liverpool in this season’s League Cup.

Our Albion reporter Tim Hodges will endeavour to bring you all the action as it happens from the match.

Albion’s Scouse midfielders Craig Noone and Alan Navarro were no doubt leaping around their respective living rooms as the draw was made.

A just reward for Saturday’s superb 1-0 victory against Premier League Newcastle United.

The teams last met in the FA Cup 21 years ago. On Saturday 26 January 1991 Albion, then in the old Second Division, now the Championship, held Liverpool 2-2 at Anfield in the 4th round.

When the top flight club came back to the Goldstone four days later Albion went out 3-2 in one of Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish’s last games in charge.

Steve McMahon had put the Reds ahead but a Mike Small equaliser meant that the match went into extra time. A John Byrne goal gave Albion a 2-1 lead. But Ian Rush pulled one back before McMahon nabbed the winner five minutes from the end.
