Doncaster Rovers 1 Brighton & Hove Albion 1
The Albion threw away their lead at the Keepmoat Stadium this afternoon, after the in-form Craig Mackail-Smith put the Seagulls in front after just 20 minutes.
Doncaster’s El Hadji Diouf converted a penalty with ten minutes left after Joe Mattock was adjudged to have handled a cross.
Mackail-Smith scored with a shot on the turn, pouncing on Liam Bridcutt’s off-target effort.
Giles Barnes headed wide, when well positioned for Doncaster and Mattock made a superbly timed challenge to deny Diouf.
Before the half was out Mackail-Smith had a great chance to double Albion’s lead, but had his effort cleared away by the Rovers defence.
The second half was evenly matched. Sam Vokes and Craig Noone replaced Mackail-Smith and Abdul Razak but Albion’s chances were few and far between.
Ashley Barnes and Will Buckley had half chances for the Seagulls before Diouf won and then converted the penalty past Peter Brezovan.
Both teams stay in the league positions that they were in prior to kick off, with Albion seventh and Rovers still bottom.
