Westdene Primary School were beaten semi-finalists in the Danone Cup, a national tournament which attracted more than 3,000 entries from schools across the country.
The finals were held at Aston Villa’s training ground in Birmingham yesterday (Saturday 24 May).
After the fantastic achievement in itself of qualifying for the final stages, Westdene proceeded through their initial group, overcoming schools from as far afield as Berkshire and North Yorkshire.
But they were beaten 2-0 by Lyndhurst Primary School from Hampshire at the semi-final stage.
The competition is run in partnership with the English Schools FA and helps to promote the importance of regular exercise for children under 11.
