Brighton and Hove schoolchildren are being given a discount on bus travel for the summer holidays.
The suggestion to reduce child fares during the summer break came from a member of Brighton Area Buswatch, and is being launched this week.
From Thursday until 31 August, anyone with a BusID card can get a 7 day key smartcard ticket for £7, down 25% from the usual price of £9.50.
Mike Best, Commercial Director says “We wanted to enhance the options available to young people so they can travel with us for less, whether it’s for school, shopping, visiting friends, or going to the cinema. We know how important affordable travel is for young people so we hope this discounted offer will help their money stretch further through the summer holidays.”
To take advantage of the offer buy your ticket online at smartbuses.co.uk. The special discounted price will apply to tickets bought between 24 July – 31 August 2014.
To be eligible for a Bus ID card, you need to be aged between five and 18 and have lived in the area for at least two years.
You can get one by completing an application form available at www.buses.co.uk
