Families unable to stay in their homes due to today’s flash floods are being given shelter at Hove Town Hall.

Brighton and Hove City Council says a number of families have been affected by the flooding.

Officers are currently reviewing whether a full rest centre is required overnight.

A statement on the council website says: “We have set up a rest centre at Hove Town Hall to accommodate a number of families affected by flooding.

“We will review whether a full rest centre is required for this evening and overnight.”

The council has also implemented its homelessness severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) will be in action tonight, which means special night shelters will be opened.
