A restaurant employee from Hove admitted stealing more than £2,400 from his bosses when he appeared before Brighton magistrates.
Anekpong Wongwai, 39, of Church Road, Hove, stole the cash on different occasions last month.
Wongwai was working at the newly reopened Giggling Squid, also in Church Road. The restaurant had to be refurbished after it suffered flood damage.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (3 January) he pleaded guilty to stealing £1396.66 between Friday 5 December and Friday 12 December.
He also admitted a separate charge of stealing £1,056.24 on Monday 29 December or Tuesday 30 December.
He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison suspended for two years and ordered to pay compensation totalling £1,952.90.
