Less slipping and sliding for Brighton commuters
Posted On 12 Feb 2015 at 2:39 pm
A new matwell is being installed at the entrance of Brighton Station to stop the floor getting too slippery when wet.
The entrance to the station by Marks and Spencer is frequently closed in wet weather after rainwater pools on the smooth surface, making it dangerous to walk over.
Now, Southern Railways, which owns the station, is making changes to prevent this from happening.
A spokesman said: “There is a new matwell being fitted there to help prevent slips and to mop up any water brought in during rainy weather. The work will be complete by Friday.”

A matwell?! what on earth is a matwell? There’s no such word!
Yeah there is, I googled it. A matwell is the frame a mat sits in… a mat well http://www.genesis-aps.com/products/entrance-matting/accessories/matwell-frame-made-to-measure
