Labour nominates candidates for all 54 seats in local elections in Brighton and Hove

The Labour Party has nominated candidates for all 54 seats in the local elections in Brighton and Hove on Thursday 7 May.

Nominations closed at 4pm today (Thursday 9 April).

Bob Carden is retiring as one of the two councillors for North Portslade, Brian Fitch, who spent the past year as mayor of Brighton and Hove, is retiring as the only Labour councillor out of the three in Hangleton and Knoll and Jeane Lepper is retiring as the only Labour councillor out of the three for Hollingdean and Stanmer.

Chaun Wilson said that she was standing down as one of three councillors representing East Brighton for family reasons. She will contest Patcham – a safe Conservative seat that she is unlikely to win.

Former councillor Melanie Davis, who previously represented Goldsmid, is standing in Brunswick and Adelaide. Former councillor Kevin Allen will try to regain his old Preston Park seat. And another former councillor Juliet McCaffery, who also used to represent Preston Park, is standing in Withdean.
