Brighton man charged with raping girl, 15, in Hove
A Brighton man has been charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in Hove and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.
Obaidullah Shenwari, 21, unemployed, of Terminus Road, Brighton, was remanded in custody at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 17 April.
He was ordered to appear before a judge at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday 7 May for an initial hearing.
The rape and the sexual assault were alleged to have taken place at the same address in Hove in June 2013. Shenwari knew both girls.
He was also accused of failing to answer police bail in July last year.
The court ordered him to be kept in custody because of the seriousness of the offence, his lack of community ties, the likelihood that he would offend and that he would abscond.
