Brighton supermarket manager charged with stealing cigarettes worth £16k
A Brighton supermarket manager has been sent for trial by jury after he was charged with stealing thousands of packets of cigarettes.
Garry Crossley, 27, worked at the Brighton Marina Asda. He was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of stealing cigarettes worth in excess of £16,739.
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court he was charged with theft from his employer between Saturday 20 September last year and Thursday 15 January.
Crossley, of Park Drive Close, Newhaven, was remanded on bail to appear at Lewes Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
He was given bail on condition that he stays away from the Asda store at the Marina to prevent the possibility of interfering with witnesses or otherwise obstructing the course of justice.
