A new head teacher has been appointed at the Portslade Aldridge Community Academy.
brighton resident Katie Scott will start in September.

The school said: “The governors at Portslade Aldridge Community Academy are delighted to announce that Katie Scott has been appointed as the new principal at PACA.

“Katie underwent a thorough and exhaustive selection process in which she was tested against both potential substantive and interim heads.

“In particular, her passion for the academy, commitment to education and student focus shone through. I have since visited her in her current school and was genuinely impressed with the work she has led there.

“Katie will start in September, but plans to spend time at PACA this half term getting to know the academy better and familiarising herself with students and staff.

“After being a member of senior leadership teams in London and Sussex for the last ten years, Katie is keen to learn about what is working well at PACA and what we still have to do.

“She will also be visiting and starting to build relationships with the local primary schools.

“Katie will provide stability to PACA and, as a Brighton resident, is keen to see a successful PACA playing a key part in Brighton’s education system.”

She said: “I am tremendously excited to join PACA as principal. I am very much looking forward to working with the young people of Portslade, and their families, to create the outstanding school that they deserve.

“I consider it a privilege and an honour to be given the opportunity to contribute to the city I love.”

The Parents’ Association at PACA and parent governors were directly involved in the appointment of Ms Scott and, aside from her impressive educational credentials, found her to be a warm and caring individual

They also regarded her as someone who is clearly committed to the children of Portslade and to providing them with an outstanding education in a safe, caring and nurturing school.
