Brighton and Hove Albion keeper returns from loan after injury
Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton is returning to the club after injury cut short his loan spell with League One Bury.
The England under-21 international has also been forced to pull out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the matches against the USA at Preston on Thursday (3 September) and in Norway next Monday (7 September).
Walton played six times for Bury, despite suffering an underlying groin injury. He is returning to the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre to work with Albion’s medical staff.
Albion boss Chris Hughton said: “Christian is back with us for his treatment on a groin problem and we felt it was right to bring him back here so he can play some matches with our under-21s as part of his rehabilitation.
“The view then would be to loan him back out at some time in the autumn.”
Walton played four times for Albion’s first team last season, after making his debut at Spurs in the League Cup, and has represented England at under-19 and under-20 levels.
