Brighton Housing Trust has issued a plea for volunteers to help out with its annual Christmas bucket collections to raise money to help the homeless.
The proceeds will go towards the work taking place at the First Base Day Centre, in Brighton.
The first of two collections is due to take place on Saturday 28 November from 1.30 to 5pm in the Clock Tower area of North Street, Brighton.
The second is scheduled for Saturday 12 December from 1.30pm to 5pm in George Street, Hove.
Tasha Burt, community fundraiser at First Base says: “The Christmas bucket collection will be a joy. Everyone will be in festive spirt to help raise as much money as possible and for a great cause.
“Hot drinks and mince pies will be provided to all our lovely volunteers. BHT t-shirts will be available on the day to wear but Christmas jumpers and hats or even fancy dress is welcome.
“No experience necessary and under 16s must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
“We would be most grateful if people could give an hour or two on one or both of the days.”
Anyone who can help is asked to email natasha.burt@bht.org.uk or call her on 01273 929499.
I have done this several times, through five hours (but one can do less). And what struck me was how many people said, “there but for the grace of God…” as they put money in the pot. I recall only one miserable git.
